I was scrubbing through the archives in the Athens Daily Review building a few weeks ago. In one of their (MANY) huge archive books I found a really cool article with the headline ” Lawmen stage occult workshop, Gravesite is mutilated here”. Apparently, the city was in a state of hysteria due to the numerous animal mutilations on hwy 19 and reports of occult activity in the city. The article also mentions an 18-year old man that was arrested for robbing the grave of an American civil war soldier. Chief Deputy Paul Clanton does go on to say that most of the reports of satanic rituals and mutilations cannot be substantiated, however, several cases of ritualistic activity have been confirmed. The article concluded with the following statement “several Henderson county youth have become so deeply involved in dabbling in the occult that they have required mental heath treatment outside the county”.

Even more strange for someone to post anything about someone else’s mental health and the relevance of the poking around is??? I’ll put my money on the person just “poking” around about the history of the occult than the person “poking” fun at the state of someone’s mental health. Just saying…where’s the relevance and how long did it take you to find that “snoop doggy dog”! Can you say weird? I’m not gonna be too rude bc you might be in the occult or a distant relative of the person in the occult for all I know. Plus, what’s wrong with having a mental illness? At least they’re seeking help for it. You might want to slow your roll and check out the Andrew’s Center on 19! Dr. Furlong will take good care of you…I think you’re right about how it’s weird to poke around..but not about the town history..about mental health and someone seeking help. Just my opinion though. =/

While I was working in athens tx, My boss told me he used to work in emergency services. Sometime after 911 they were told about the tunnels for terroists reasons. He said that he saw the plans for the tunnels and there where 4 big pages of the tunnel map. He said that even though the map was never fully laid out he could tell it made a pentagram.
